Q: How can I turn off the check engine light on my acura 1.7 el 01?
Do i have to go straight to the dealer to let them do it?

A: the check engine light can be a issue. you need a obd2 scanner tool to do this. in california autozone will scan it for free and erase the check engine light for you. go to your local honda and get it checked (depending where you live there might be a fee). but if ur vehicle has an issue the light will just come back on. hope this helps

Q: What would be a fair price for a lower contour arm for an Acura 1.7 el be?
I've had one autoshop tell me $276 for the part, plus $140 for labour. I can see a clear ripoff, as I called another autoshop and they said $150, including labour. Any advice? control arm**

A: $150 doesnt sound too bad but if your handy; go to your local U Pull It Junkyard and get one yourself. Id say $50-75 would be an acceptable range.

Q: 97 acura el parts for 97 civic?
I would rather an el, but it seems the parts for it are harder to find if i get a civic of the same year...is it possible to put a 97 acura 1.6 el front and back bumper plus trunk and grille on the civic?

A: I know what you mean, There is no EL in the USA. It was a Canada Only car. They are relatively fun cars to drive. Slightly more luxurious than the rebadged Civic, and no too many mechanical problems. In terms of spaciousness, you won't feel like you're in a limo but for a car of that size you'll be ableto comfortably fit 3 people in the back seat. I myself have never owned an EL but I CAN tell you that fuel economy is excellet considering the fact that it dos have an I-4 engine. I'm not too sure on which year your wife is looking at. If the car is an 01 to an 05 she'll get a decent 1.7L engine with 127hp. 5 speed manual is standard and 4 speed automatic was optional. No leather interior but the dashboard looks of something that could come out of an early 2000 Lexus. Safety is excellent in this car because you get a 5 star frontal impact rating as well as ABS brakes and an anti-theft device system.

Just wondering where the radio antenna is on a 1998 Acura 1.6el? Never owned a honda and im not sure where they hide them. My radio doesn't get any kind of useful reception I think it needs replacing or a connection is bad!

A: The radio antenna is built into the rear glass, just above the grid for the defroster.

A: yes, canadian 97-00 1.6el is exact same car as USDM 96-00 Civic EX with exception of body panels which can be swapped. rear taillight/trunk, front end, interior is swapable .

Q: acura 1.6 el vs civic 98 cx?
I was wondering what to get, a Acura 1.6el 1999 or a Civic HB CX or HB DX? Is the performance about the same? comfort? insurance? quality? etc etc. But mainly I would like to know if an EL would have more performance than a civic CX although I know it is not by any means a performance car. Q: cannot find Acura EL parts??help!!?
i own a 97 Acura EL i tried to find cold air intake or short ramp for it, and i tried to find projector headlight for my HID, since now its glaring everywhere, and i just can't any of these for my EL anyone know where i should go to find them? thanks

A: You answerers are idiots. The EL is the Acura version of the Honda Civic, and is not sold in the United States. 1.6 EL is the Civic up to 2000 (D16 Civic) and the 1.7 EL is the 2001+ (D17 Civic) More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_EL Anyways, as for basic performance parts, I'm not sure which specific engine you have, but open your hood and look on the front of the engine torwards the bottom and there will be a little plate with a stamp on it that should say D16something. Then go look up 1997 Honda Civic parts (sedan), and match up your engine code with the parts available. Theres a D16y8 which is what I'm guessing you have and there are TONS of parts available for it. I'm pretty sure you wont find projector headlights for it, but atleast there are intakes, headers, exhausts, etc available for it. Also, springs and other suspension parts should work too.
